Sipdroid

Sipdroid is a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) application for the Google Android operating system using the Session Initiation Protocol.

Sipdroid is a java based, open source Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) application for the Google Android operating system using the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP).

With Sipdroid you can use your Android phone with almost any SIP provider. The calls are very clear even over a 3G network, as well as over a WLAN connection. Sipdroid integrates into your phone, eliminating the need for a separate phone book. You will use your Android contacts in the same way as if you were making a call over a cellular network.

Sipdroid allows you to choose where you will use VoIP, on WLANs only, on 3G, or EDGE networks. If you are going to use VoIP services outside private wireless networks, it''s your responsibility to check the contractual terms with the mobile operator. Often mobile phone operators forbid using VoIP in the contract''s fine print.
